The Corporation of the Municipality of Calvin, established in 1887, is located 35 minutes east of the City of North Bay and 10 minutes west of the Town of Mattawa along the Trans Canada Highway 17. It borders the Mattawa River to the north, the Township of Bonfield to the west, the Township of Papineau-Cameron to the East and the unincoporated Township of Lauder to the south.
This small, picturesque farming community with a rural population of approximately 610 people has a deep history in the logging industry.
Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park, the Canadian Ecology Centre, the Eau Claire Gorge and access to Algonquin Provincial Park are all key points of interest located within Calvin. Its rolling hills, pristine lakes and rivers all add to natural beauty that is Calvin.
