Nestled near the northeast section of Algonquin Park and located in Ontario's Near North, the Mattawa-Bonfield Area is a picturesque group of municipalities. We offer the meeting of the Mattawa & Ottawa Rivers, magnificent Lake Nosbonsing, and access to some say, Canada's Best Trails. Each municipality in the group enjoys the hospitality of its surrounding small businesses, organized clubs, and citizens. For anyone wanting to enjoy a piece of Canadian history, Mattawa's Explorer's Point resembles itself as a 1600's Hudson Bay Trading Post that was used by many settlers and voyageurs that have made their way through the area. Namely Samuel de Champlain, Anahareo, and Etienne Brule. Today, Explorer's Point is the host of our annual Mattawa Voyageur Days, which takes place each July. From Local Talent to 12-12 Rock on Saturday, Mattawa gets travelers from as far as Virginia for this annual event. Community Ambassadors Travel to Mattawa Voyageur Country and Enjoy Your Stay! |
